How VADPR Endorses Clients Part II

Last week I began writing about our recent quest for wellness. This goes beyond the goal of simply being pain free from day to day, this is about that percieved freedom of wellness and happiness that you see through today’s marketing efforts. After I quit racing, I began to get all sorts of aches and pains, especially through the back and shoulders.

From a care point of view, Dr. Dan was doing a great job of adjusting me and alleviating pain. For me though, it wasn’t enough. I had to find the gap that was causing the resurgence of pain. At the time, I didn’t even realize it was my “new laziness”. I decided to take my Chiropractic visits with Dr. Dan to the next step. Then I intended to combine the Chiropractic with Fitness.

Dr. Dan had me visit the office and work with Meagan and Maggie. They used video to measure my existing flexibility against an example video featuring Dr. Todd and Gonstead Family Chiropractic. I remember vividly the loss of hope as I realized I couldn’t touch my toes. I used to be an athlete – are you kidding me?!?!

A couple of weeks later, I reveiwed the video with Dr. Dan and he prescribed a “Protocol”. Meaganran me through the protocol which involved stretchy bands, a stick and an inflated bouncy ball. After the session, I felt sore, like I had just jogged or better yet… tried bull-riding for the first time. The next day out of curiosity, as I showered, I tried and was amazed to find I could touch my toes!!

What “PROTOCOL” are you usng to reach your wellness goals?

*** More to come.

How VADPR Endorses Clients Part I

January 17, 2012
2011-09-25_12

As 2012 jumps off to a great start, I began to think about how involved Von Ahnen Design & PR gets with its clients. Once a client slides into an (e)PR relationship with us, they become family. Sometimes, its not enough to add followers to a Twitter Account. We’ve utilized Amazing Jumps at many events over the years, but 2012 is off to a different flavor.

Part of the draw this season is wellness. VADPR is entrenched with the Gonstead Team in Albuquerque – specifically Dr. Dan Prince on the West Side. He’s got a confidence and way of explaining chiropractic that just plain makes sense. Since I re-re-re-tired from Roadracing, I have had all kinds of aches and pains creep up. Dr Dan is there to help alleviate and prevent some of that. He also introduced me to a video / exercise regimen that I will explain in upcoming articles.

Beyond the miracles of Chiropractic, I have had to face the fact that the absense of roadracing has caused a void in my physical activity. Our new relationship with Sports and Wellness is filling that gap. Working with Justin Desterhouse at Sports and Wellness, I am hoping not to gain some weird advantage over a non-existant resolution… but to overcome a lifestyle hurdle and cut a path to wellness. I will be posting regularly about our involvement with these service providers and their benefit on a personal level.

I guess that leads to a discussion about wellness… what are your thoughts about wellness?

This is where we smash the competition!

Chalk

Social Media Management – Implementing and maintaining a web strategy that engages end-users and clients in conversation. Social Media is not Facebook or Twitter. It is the combination of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace (yes, for some), Reverbnation, Craigslist, LinkedIn and more. Creative and effective use of these communication channels with the incorporation of other tools is paramount in today’s web world.

Contact Management – Social Media without considering list management is only half the job. We specialize in using additional tools to harvest contacts and continue the conversation.

Media Generation – Our competiton says things like “Send us your stuff and we’ll post it”, and that’s why their plans fail. Most businesses are busy surviving the next business day. They don’t have time for Media and Post generation. We have services available to help the client generate content. We use web search tools, staff photographers, videographers and what ever else is needed to communicate our client’s needs.

Coffee With Jesus…

January 14, 2012

Today was a test of everything I believe and hear taught at my church and in the end I get the blessing of humility. I got to the office early as usual and parked the car, while talking to my sister in Maryland. I glanced across the street. The front door of my office building held a man, laying on cardboard, wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by what looked like trash.

2011-09-21_07

Carefully, I approached the doorway and verified that he was breathing. Relieved, I gave out a wimpy “good morning” then “hellooo” and nothing. I thought about going to the Golden Crown Panderia (bakery) to get a goodie and coffee for him… but then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I don’t get treats like that for myself. What I can do is treat him with respect and not buy him off. All this thinking occured as I circled the property mustering my inner self.

I strolled directly up to the door and said “Good Morning” firmly. He stirred just a tiny bit. “You Want Some Coffee?!?!” I nearly shouted. He bounced up. “Good morning friend, give me 10 minutes and the coffee will be ready… wanna cup?” He smiled. I let him know where the restrooms were to clean up and got him a cold bottled water.

As the coffee brewed in my office, I though about how close we all are to this predicament. My new friend came down to my office. I told him the coffee would be a few more minutes and gave him a travel cup and creamer. His English was really broken up so it took some effort – but Ramon is from Cuba and moved to the United States in 1995. We talked about where he stays and how he’s been filling out applications for work.

I offered him some Pop Tarts (my office staple) and the coffee finished up. As I was booting up computers in the office, Ramon handed me HIS cup full of coffee and said “For you”. Am I really having coffee with Jesus?
